The Optimal Life with Nate Haber

Inspirational conversations with extraordinary people.

Feb 6, 2018

Greg McNeil founded the 501(c)(3), Cover2 Resources, after losing his son to the heroin/opioid epidemic in 2015.  His organization's mission is to help opioid users and their loved ones find help, and to mitigate one's chances for becoming addicted to opioids through access to premier resources, service providers and preventative educational programs.

In this episode, we hear about the path from opioid addiction to heroin addiction and the emotional toll it takes on a user's loved ones.  We hear about how "signs and symptoms" of drug abuse are often hard to discover, and how opioids and heroin take hostage of the human brain.  We hear about ways in which families desperately seek recovery options for their loved ones and how a relapse is most often part of the recovery process.  We end with a discussion on ways in which Greg and his foundation are providing resources to users and to their families in hopes of them achieving a different outcome than the one faced by the McNeil's.
